Water Testing Results

Water samples are taken annually in late summer at up to four locations. These include the deepest section of the middle lake south of Greeley's Landing, a short distance behind the Dam, and the entry point of Wilson Stream and Ship Pond Stream. The samples are sent to the University of Maine for analysis and the results are reported to the State of Maine, Maine VLMP and Sebec Lake Association.

Currently we test only for phosphorous levels. We would like to test for oxygen levels, but that requires a piece of equipment that costs in the $2000 area. Phosphorous readings of less than. 025 ppb (parts per billion) are desired. Above that there is the potential for excessive plant growth stimulation, e.g. algae bloom.
